2023 DP World Tour Qualifying School

WA professionals Haydn Barron, Connor McKinney and Hayden Hopewell will tee off in Spain today as they bid to come through one of the most grueling tests in golf – DP World Tour Qualifying School.

The second stage of DP World Tour Q-School takes place across four separate courses in Spain from November 2-5. Both Barron and McKinney are in the field at Golf Las Pinaillas in Albacete, south-east Spain. One of their fellow competitors will be 2021 WA Amateur champion Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa. Hopewell, meanwhile, will compete at Fontanals GC in the northern city of Girona.

Hopewell and Barron earned their places in Stage 2 of Q-School via their finishing positions on the 2022-23 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit, while McKinney breezed through a Stage 1 qualifier in Belgium in early September.

An undisclosed number of top-ranked players from each venue will progress to the six-round final stage at Infinitum Golf Club from November 10-15. There, qualifiers will compete against rivals from the DP World and Challenge Tours who have lost their exempt status in 2023.

In total, 156 players will tee up in final qualifying with only the top 25 and ties earning full playing rights on the DP World Tour in 2024. Golfers negotiating all three stages of Q-School will play a minimum of 252 holes in their bid to earn tour status.
