WA Golf cleans up at RAC Awards

14th Feb 2020

Three of Western Australian Golf’s own did not return empty handed from last night’s RAC Sport West Awards in recognition of their stand out performances and contributions.

Hannah green’s breakthrough 2019 season was again recognised last night when she was named joint winner of The West Australian RAC Sports Star Award alongside Fremantle Dockers champion, Nat Fyfe.

Hannah’s 2019 season was highlighted by her major championship triumph at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship as well as a followup victory at the Cambia Portland Classic later in the season.

Green’s victory last night comes just two months after she won 2019 Greg Norman Medal, the most prestigious award in Australian golf.

Also making history last night was up and coming star Maddy Hinson-Tolchard who became the first person to win back-to-back 6PR Special Achievement awards.

Maddy had a great 2019 season that was made even more impressive juggling golf and study in her final year of school at Penrhos College.

Dual Australian representation and stand out performances locally and in the US rounded off a great 2019 for Maddy as she prepares to return to the States on a college scholarship at Oklahoma State University in August.

Incredibly, GolfWA athletes have won six of the last seven 6PR Special Achievement Awards. Minjee Lee (2013, Min Woo Lee (2015), Fred Lee (2016), Kirsten Rudgeley (2017) and Maddy Hinson-Tolchard (2018 & 2019).

Former WGWA President and GolfWA Life Member, Kay Lane has been a long time contributor to golf and was one of three recipients of the Roobix Service to Sport Award.

Kay has dedicated her life to golf in Western Australia and this award is recognition for tireless years of hard work and commitment.
