2023 GolfWA RV Tour open for registration

21st Apr 2023

If you love golf as much as you love your caravan or motorhome, then the 2023 GolfWA RV Tour could be a dream come true!

Taking place from September 10-16, the annual event welcomes a growing collective of sport and travel fans and includes rounds of golf at three different regional courses, as well as sight-seeing opportunities along the way.

The 2023 GolfWA RV Tour heads to the beautiful Wheatbelt. As well as the golf, hospitality and socialising, participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the highlights of the Granite Way as they travel a wide loop from Quairading to Brookton via Narembeen.

With wildflower season set to be in full bloom at the time, September represents a fabulous time to visit the region, according to GolfWA Regional Ambassador Ian “Chook” Fowler.

“I’ve personally travelled the Granite Way a few times and the word ‘sensational’ doesn’t do it justice,” he said. “The wildflowers in that region are a photographer’s dream and it’s also the perfect place to launch into numerous other activities from Kalgoorlie right across to Esperance.”

The warm reception available at the golf clubs is another good reason to get involved, Ian added. “There’s no hospitality quite like country hospitality. The clubs make everyone feel extremely welcome and put all their facilities at our disposal.”

Schedule of events

Quairading Golf Club is the first host venue on this year’s RV Tour, with attendees accommodated on the club grounds on Sunday 10th September before 18 holes of golf the next day. Lunch and dinner are laid on by the club, with daily prize presentations for the day’s best players.

Pack-up, sightseeing and travel to Narembeen follows on Tuesday 12th September with more golf and hospitality on the Wednesday before the last leg of the tour to Brookton on Thursday 14th. The final round of golf takes place at Brookton Golf Club on Friday, with trophies awarded at a closing presentation dinner – including the overall winner of the Tour’s Order of Merit.

The RV Tour was launched in 2020 to cater for the rise in RV activity in the midst of COVID border closures. Bevin Martin, tour co-founder and a past WA State Representative for the Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia, highly recommends the experience.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, develop new friendships and support regional golf courses in beautiful parts of our great state,” he said.

New or beginner golfers also need have no fear about participating. “There are some serious players, but the emphasis is more on social aspects than the golf,” Bevin added. “We have inexperienced players on the tour and non-golfers, too. All are welcome.”

The cost to participate in the RV Tour is $300pp, which includes green fees, catering, prizes, social events and non-powered camping at each golf club. Non-golfers can attend at a cost of $240pp.
